China to Improve Food Safety Standards
28 years since adoption of
its first food safety law China’s National Health and Family Planning
Commission plans to consolidate some 5,000 food safety standards. Clearer lines
of authority amongst departments and updating of food safety standards to
reflect current needs has been deemed crucial in light of rising challenges to
ensure food safety. GFSF welcomes the China government's initiative to establish
a uniform national standard for food safety.
